Topic: Plant Production
Keywords: Vicia sativa L., seed ornamentation, seedling, varieties
Summary:

Two approaches have been studied for the early determination of the homogeneity of common vetch cultivars (Vicia sativa L.), the ornamentation of the seed teguments and the dimensions of the leaflets of the first leaf on seedling. The study has been carried out on commercial seed from 21 varieties in both, rainfed and irrigated land conditions in Zaragoza for two years. Results proved the heterogeneity of 16 varieties with respect to one or both criteria. The maximum value of the variation coefficient of the length/width rate of the leaflets to determine when a variety is homogeneous on seedling was 13.8%.
