Summary:

Selenium levels in Galician ovine breed lambs have been studied in one flock. To carry out our purpose the serum selenium concentration was analysed by atomic absorption spectrophotometry with hydride generation, and glutathione peroxydase (GSH‑Px), creatine‑fosfokinase (CPK) and aspartate‑aminotransferase (ASAT) enzymes were analized using enzymatic‑colorimetric techniques.
The mean serum selenium concentration was 21.86±0.14 ppb and the mean enzyme activity were 107.51±7.6 UI/g Hb of GSH‑Px , 85.56±9.8 UI/l of CPK and 34.5±2.2 UI/l of ASAT. Twin lambs had less serum selenium concentration and more CPK activity than single lambs. Sex didn't have any influence on these parameters.
